One Point At a Time

For those unaware, a recent incident erupted over top 100 players being asked to donate to a relief fund for those ranked 250 and below. As the pandemic has basically wiped out their income potential for the remainder of the year.

Dominic Thiem, world No. 3, publicly stated he doesn’t believe he should have to donate to it. For reasons known to him he doesn’t think the lower level players are professional enough.

In reply, Ines Ibbou, a pro women’s tennis player from Algeria made a heartfelt video as an open letter to him, and basically to the world. What looks like a video letter is more of an insight into the journey of not just one player, but thousands like her. Men and women.

Please do take 9 minutes and 22 seconds to watch the journey we don’t get to see on prime time TV or YouTube highlights. Even if some of us are living it right now.

Yesterday I said I would share, why it’s not foolish to dream about a pro career even if literally everything is against you?

The above is what it takes. You go forward one point at a time, one game at a time, one match at a time.

To the dreamers out there, ITL stands with you.
